1C2 – READING MR SLOAN’S HEIGHT

1C2 have not only succeeded in reading Mr Sloan’s height, they have exceeded it by a massive amount. There was obviously some serious reading taking place during the Easter holidays, because when they returned from holiday I had a stack of fourteen books returned to measure and add, which made it completely impossible to tell at which point they passed 1917 mm!

Currently 1C2 and Miss Stirling are discussing their next reading project – I can’t wait to see what that will be.

Thursday

1C2 – READING MR SLOAN’S HEIGHT

1C2 were obviously inspired by World Book Day last week, and they have been reading diligently since we last checked how far up Mr Sloan’s height they have reached. They have read an additional 323mm, bringing their total so far to 886mm.

Now all we have to do is get Mr Sloan into the library so we can check whether the total is past his knees yet!

Recently 1c2 have been reading about Sherlock Holmes, James Bond – both as an adult and a teenager, Harry Potter, Maximum Ride and Arthur Dent. Have a look at the sidebar to see exactly which books they have enjoyed.

Thursday

1C2 – READING MR SLOAN’S HEIGHT

1C2 have started off well – they are already up to 563 mm, which is probably just about up to Mr Sloan’s knees. So far they have read books about angels, genetic experiments, sharks, vampires, detection, magic, love, shopping and friendship. The wall is already looking good!

Wednesday

1C2 – SAME GOAL, DIFFERENT TEACHER

1c2 finished reading Miss Stirling’s height a few weeks ago, and they have decided to take on one of the tallest teachers in the school as their next challenge. Mr Sloan was measured while 1c2 were in Maths this week, and he is 1917 mm, or just over 6 feet 3 inches tall.

The class had 25mm left over from reading Miss Stirling’s height, and they have been busy reading this week, so the height chart by the library door should be growing shortly.

There will be a new total in the side-bar, and Miss Stirling’s books will be moved down.

Tuesday

1C2 – READING MISS STIRLING’S HEIGHT

On the 16th January, 1C2 finished reading Miss Stirling’s height – in fact they read 1695mm in total, 25mm taller than their teacher. The last book handed in measured more than the required millimetres, so we have agreed to ‘bank’ that amount against their next ‘Read the Height of a Teacher’ project. Miss Stirling has decided that she will continue running the heap of books in her room up and over the roof. That may not work in the library as the ceiling in here is slanted, but we can always give it a try!

Now all 1C2 have to decide is whose height they will read next?

Wednesday

1C2’S CHRISTMAS READING

During the holidays 1c2 have spent a lot of their time reading – this week there is another 266mm worth to add to their total, which is now 1563mm. They really don’t have far to go now to reach their target. After some discussion, we have decided that those pupils who got Kindles for Christmas will be allowed to use the paperback measurement for their books, although some people felt that they should only be given 4mm per book…

As usual, the full list of titles (and measurements) is in the left sidebar, and you can see 1C2’s heap of books in the Library or in Miss Stirling’s room.

Wednesday

1C2 – READING MISS STIRLING’S HEIGHT

This week 1C2 added another 211mm to their total, making it 1297mm worth of books they have read so far. With only 373mm to go, I expect they will have reached their target by the time they come back after the holidays. This week students read Pink Chameleon, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Subtle Knife, New Moon, Haunting Violet, Blue, and two people read Eclipse.

Wednesday

1C2 – READING MISS STIRLING’S HEIGHT

Another steady week of reading from 1c2 has added 251 mm to their total, which means that they now have 1086 mm in total and have broken the one meter mark. They have read lots of different books (the full list is still in the sidebar) although there are some obvious favourites – eight people have read one of the Twilight books and six have read a Wimpy Kid book.

Wednesday

1C2 – READING MISS STIRLING’S HEIGHT

Obviously when the weather gets cold and snowy, 1C2 stay warm and cosy, and read! They have read a massive 352 mm worth of books this week, taking their total to 835 mm in total. The full list of books and how thick they are has been updated in the sidebar.

You can see the tower of books in the Library (by the front door) or in Miss Stirling’s room.
