Welcome to the new members of the Library Team this year – Cara, Finn, Alexandra, Ryan, Lucy, Callum, Katie, Rhianna, Abigail, Chloe and Kacey. They all did really well in their interviews and group-work task, and they have some wonderful ideas about promoting books and reading, so expect to see the Library become an even better place than it already is!
Helen and Ciaran will be the team leaders this year, with Fern taking on the role of Library Ambassador
The whole Library Team will be involved in training for the next two weeks – the new people will be learning how to issue and return books, and finding out how to do all the other things the Library Team do. Please be patient if you have to wait for your book to be issued, they have a lot to take in.
Welcome to Juliette who joins the Library Team this week. Her first tasks will be finding out how everything works behind the scenes, and learning how to issue and return books – not as easy as it looks, so please be patient if Juliette is on the desk when you need your book stamped out!
We have new books in the Library this week, with more to follow soon… Watch this space! Remember that you can always suggest new books for the Library if we do not have what you want to read. Just talk to Mrs Vennall, or write your suggestion down and hand it in to one of the Library Team.

Welcome back, or Welcome if you are starting at West Calder High School today. This is the Library Blog, where the Library Team talk about what’s happening in the Library, or around the school, or just about anything else we find interesting and want to share! Mostly, we talk about books, and more books, and films of books, and books that should be films but aren’t… We share book reviews, and book videos, and film reviews (anyone is welcome to do a review for the blog, just ask) and we tell you when we have new books in the library, or when our favourite books are nominated for book awards. We let you know when long-awaited sequels are released, and every week there is a featured Book of the Week, that is also highlighted on the library noticeboard.
The Library Team is made up of Mrs Vennall, who is the School Librarian; two Team Leaders, Fern and Beth who are both in S5 and volunteers from other years.
The new timetable starts today, so everyone moves on a year. However, please bear with us in the library – it takes a bit longer for us to move everyone up!
Hopefully, with some very hard work from the Library Team we will have completed the task by the end of the week, in the meantime we might need to know your old class rather than your new one to find your barcode.
