S1 Tree of Knowledge

treeof_logoTree of Knowledge are working with the first year in the library all day today. They are doing a programme called Successville which is all about working together and learning successfully.

The Tree of Knowledge website says this about the course:

SUCCESSVILLE is a fun, educational experience. This course focuses on recognising and celebrating both individual and team achievements, and highlights the importance of good working relationships and effective team work. Pupils will learn just how effective their contribution is in their school and the impact it has on their community. This course will give them a sense of personal achievement and satisfaction helping them to build resilience and confidence whilst leaving them feeling motivated to learn.

treeof_logoToday Tree of Knowledge are working with the Fourth Year in the library all day. They are doing a course called Laugh in the Face of Exams, which the TOK company describes as follows.

This course is designed to help students prepare for exams. The Laugh in the Face of Exams session equips students with tools and techniques to cope better with the pressures of sitting exams.

This interactive workshop aims to

• adopt a more positive attitude 
• learn to deal with stress
• aim high to improve results 
• understand the importance of emotions in learning
• set goals for the future

treeof_logoToday Tree of Knowledge are working with S2 in the library all day. They are doing a course called The Wall, which the TOK company describes as follows.

The Wall acknowledges just how exciting and challenging it can be in second year. As we begin to ascend through secondary school, gaining more responsibility towards our future, it’s time to make some important, potentially life changing decisions. During this fun, interactive course, pupils are reassured and motivated to make the best decisions for themselves, understanding the part our emotions play ensuring a relaxed, happy, enjoyable and successful future. The Wall helps to ensure a smooth transition from S2 into S3.

The library will be open at break for book exchange, and at lunchtime for Games Club and Book Club as usual.

S5 Tree of Knowledge

THIS INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP AIMS TO HELP PUPILS:

  • Stop talking and start taking positive action
  • Achieve dreams and ambitions
  • Increase focus on positive opportunities
  • Lead themselves to greater success

OVERVIEW

This fun, inspirational workshop is for pupils who have already completed “laugh in the face of exams”. As pupils prepare to leave school and live for the future, can they overcome the one person that is capable of holding them back — themselves?

S3 Tree of Knowledge

Today Tree of Knowledge are working with S3 in the library. They are doing a course called Mindset and Match, which the TOK company describes as follows.

Mindset and Match is a fun and inspiring experience designed to help pupils explore their own mindsets and attitudes and how these can vary when faced with new and different challenges. This course looks past the immediate pressures of exams and turns attention to the future focusing on the importance of a growth mindset. This is an exciting opportunity to embrace new perceptions and achieve success through the right choices.

The library will only be open for readers and workers before school and at break (S6 should use the study rooms today), as we have a limited number of seats left! The Games and Book Clubs will run as usual at lunchtime.

 

S5 Tree of Knowledge

treeof_logoToday Tree of Knowledge are working with the Sixth Year in the library all day. They are doing a course called Intriguing Futures, which the TOK company describes as follows.

Intriguing Futures actively motivates students to lead the session in preparation for the leadership they will apply not only in school, but in their own lives as well. I.F. is designed to allow students to embrace and overcome personal challenges when developing leadership skills by unlocking confidence in their abilities and enjoying their new responsibilities. The course leaves students feeling empowered and excited about their own intriguing future.

• Learn to adapt within every type of situation the may find themselves in
