BRANFORD BOASE AWARD

The Branford Boase Award is an award specifically given to a new children’s author for their first children’s book. The award will be presented on Thursday July 5th and will be chosen from one of the books on the shortlist, which are:

  • Being Billy, by Phil Earle
  • Long Lankin, by Lindsey Barraclough
  • Small Change for Stuart, by Lissa Evans
  • Everybody Jam, by Ali Lewis
  • Sky Hawk, by Gill Lewis
  • A Beautiful Lie, by Irfan Master
  • My Sister Lives on the Mantelpiece, by Annabel Pitcher

My Sister Lives on the Mantlepiece is one of my favourite books of this year, and I’m reading Long Lankin (which is really very creepy) just now – I’ll review it when I’ve finished it. We have most of these books in the library already, so if you would like to read them, just ask!
