Holocaust Memorial Day 2016

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day, and the theme this year is Don’t Stand By – all about not turning a blind eye when those around us face prejudice or victimisation. Watch the video to learn more about why this matters so much.

From 10 am to 11 am today S2 will be in the library, listening to a live webcast delivered by the Holocaust Education Trust.

Friday 25th January – Holocaust Memorial Day

This Sunday, the 27th January, is Holocaust Memorial Day and the theme this year is Communities Together: Build a Bridge. If you click on the picture of the candle it will take you to the Build a Bridge page, where you can join in.

Two of our current sixth year students, Heather and Kirsten, visited Auschwitz-Birkenau representing West Calder High School on behalf of the Holocaust Educational Trust. Since their return they have been working hard to share what they learnt – presenting assemblies, putting up a display in the school foyer and working with first years in English writing poetry.

On Sunday Kirsten and Heather will be hosting a presentation in the School Hall at West Calder High School, between 7pm and 9pm, as a joint project with Polbeth Community Council. Please come along, show your support and listen to what they have to say.
