Thursday 25th April – Clockwork Princess, reviewed by MO

The book, Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, was a great read and ended The Infernal Devices trilogy. The novel follows Tessa Gray, as she prepares to marry her suitor, Jem. Although the story and plot were excellent, I can’t help feeling a bit disappointed in Tessa. In the novel, Tessa changes from the independant girl she was in other books, to a more feminine person, who relies on others to save her. I thought the ending was very appropriate, and satisfied the reader. I cannot wait for City of Heavenly Fire, and Lady Midnight! Thanks Cassandra Clare!

Wednesday 24th April – Clockwork Princess, reviewed by EN

I really enjoyed Clockwork Princess but there were some problems with consistency for example in the first two books (Clockwork Angel & Clockwork Prince) Tessa is more independent but in Clockwork Princess she becomes more dependent on Will and Jem to rescue her.

The ending was appropriate in the sense that Tessa didn’t have to choose between Will and Jem. I think that this is good in the sense that they are essentially the same person.

Tuesday 23rd April – Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, review by ND

‘Clockwork Princess’ was painful to read. Yet again, Will and Tessa and Jem are caught in their weird love triangle, and the solution to their little love problem is complicated and tragic, but fitting and rather satisfying. Throughout the book, I was immensely frustrated; I switched between wanting Tessa to be with Jem to wanting Tessa to be with Will and momentarily pondered Will being with Jem (it’s just so right). This book, though annoying at times, was perfect. It was a great conclusion to the stunning trilogy, but I do wish that more books would be written of Tessa’s and Jem’s travels.

Clockwork Princess is by Cassandra Clare and is the third book in the Infernal Devices trilogy.

Monday 22nd April – Book of the Week

So many people are reading Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare that I had to make it this week’s Book of the Week. If you watch the blog for the rest of the week, you will see a review by a different reader every day.

Clockwork Princess is the third and final part of the Infernal Devices trilogy.

Danger and betrayal, secrets and enchantment in the breathtaking conclusion to the Infernal Devices trilogy.

Tessa Gray should be happy – aren’t all brides happy? Yet as she prepares for her wedding, a net of shadows begins to tighten around the Shadowhunters of the London Institute. A new demon appears, one linked by blood and secrecy to Mortmain, the man who plans to use his army of pitiless automatons, the Infernal Devices, to destroy the Shadowhunters. Mortmain needs only one last item to complete his plan.

He needs Tessa.

And Jem and Will, the boys who lay equal claim to Tessa’s heart, will do anything to save her.

Tuesday 16th April – City of Bones reviewed by BM and MO

City of Bones, by Cassandra Clare, to us is probably one of the best novels in existence. The novel follows Clary Fray as she ventures into the world of the Shadowhunters. During her adventure, she unravels the lies and tales put together by her mother, Jocelyn, to protect her from the evil mastermind, Valentine, who also happens to be her father. The story also follows Clary and Jace as they slowly but surely fall in a love that will change the war forever. Can Clary survive impossible odds placed on her due to her being a ‘human’ or will she break the stereotype and end the threat of corruption…

The film of City of Bones is being released in August this year.

Thursday 7th February – Linger reviewed by SM

Linger is the amazing sequel to Shiver. Grace is changing into a werewolf – Sam is cured, but she is not. Sam has to find a way to stop Grace from turning into a wolf, but is it worth losing Grace? It’s either turn into a werewolf or risk death from what Sam plans to do.

This is another amazing book by Maggie Stiefvater, with a really good twist!

Linger is by Maggie Stiefvater and is the second book in The Wolves of Mercy Falls series.

Wednesday 19th December – Shiver reviewed by SM

Shiver is a book about a girl called Grace who got bitten by wolves when she was very young. She should have died, but was saved by a wolf known as Sam. This is a really good book about werewolves with a beautiful love story in it. I suggest this book to all people who like fantasy and romance.

Shiver is by Maggie Stiefvater and is the first in The Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy – click on the book cover to go to the official website and find out more about the series.

Tuesday 27th November – Until I Die reviewed by ND

Until I Die is a grippng tale about a deadly fight for love.  Kate Mercier has a difficult relationship with gorgeous undead boyfriend Vincent.  Vincent is the typical supernatural “monster”, but don’t let that put you off.  This book is about a creature you’ve probably never heard of before now – a revenant.  Basically, they reanimate three days after they die by sacrificing their own life to save another.  They spend the rest of eternity saving human lives to survive (I guess they turn into dust otherwise, whatever).

But Kate is mortal and Vincent will outlive her by several centuries, so they go searching for a solution to save their undying love (no pun intended).  Unfortunately, the bad guys – numa, who die betraying someone and spend the rest of eternity killing innocent people – are out to destroy Vincent for good.  Much more exciting than your typical love story. WARNING: SECOND BOOK IN SERIES. BOOK 1 IS DIE FOR ME. READ THAT ONE FIRST.

Until I Die is by Amy Plum and is the second book in the Revenants series.

Tuesday 6th November – Clockwork Angel, reviewed by AA

Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare is a fantastic novel about a young girl who moved to London to be with her brother but instead she is put into a world of magic and mystery.

When Tessa (the young girl) moves to London she gets kidnapped by the Dark sisters who plan to use and abuse her ‘Power’.

Eventually Tessa manages to escape. After this she is introduced to the shadowhunters, who have to protect the world from demons.

Everything gets very complicated and Tessa has to face many difficulties.

Overall I would rate this book a great 8 stars.
